Week Nine: SoCal Sunshine and Sunset – Santa Monica Bay and Griffith Park

This week I thoroughly made the most of the SoCal sunshine with highs of 85*F by touring the Santa Monica Bay Area and driving up the amazing Pacific Coast Highway which showcased the most spectacular coastline scenes. It was like viewing life through the dreamy lens of an instagram filter. We enjoyed…

El Matador Beach, Malibu

Quiet, contained and rugged

Zuma Beach, Malibu

White sands and clear blue waters

Santa Monica Beach and Pier

All the fun of the fair

Venice Beach and Boadwalk

A funny, sunny, hippy carnival

Griffith Park

I also took some time in the evenings to make the 20 minute trip to the famed Griffith Park in the trendy Los Feliz area. It is five times larger than Central Park in NY and my favourite part (that I will be revisiting) is definitely the Observatory, with views across LA and of the Hollywood sign. It is free with free parking and open till 10pm – so the perfect place to watch the sunset, which is exactly what I did. Oh and I got to see the moon and Jupiter through some pretty amazing telescopes. Truly breathtaking.

Eaton Canyon

I also discovered this gem of a hike, ten minutes walk from my front door into the mountains!
